I Don’t Have Procurement Staff!

Ideally, a purchasing department looks like the diagram here.  However, during an emergency response, nothing is ideal.

Often you must use part of the time of general, non-purchasing staff to do your purchasing while you hire staff, and when you do hire, you’ll still only have one person.

This section includes some tips for getting the work done in an efficient, orderly, and compliant manner in these situations.

Anyone can make purchases under $50.  You don’t need Procurement Staff for these.

For purchases over $50, we present three options on the page linked below.

        1. Ask other offices to do the purchasing for you
        2. Ask other offices to send you their staff temporarily
        3. Use the staff you have creatively
